FAQS

How do I schedule an appointment?

The best way to schedule is to click on this link to make an appointment. This gives you a confirmation and appointment reminder message prior to your session.

What will happen at my first appointment?

During your first session I will work to understand your needs and we will begin to develop a relationship and determine the best design for meeting (i.e. individually, as a couple or family. We will discuss individual, couple and/or family strengths and the variables that are interfering with your desired life. Also, we will consider the best meeting plan and the importance of connecting the dots in counseling with your relationships and personal life.

How much does therapy cost?

Phone consultations are free and a good way to determine if setting up an appointment is in your best interest.

  • In-network insurance: there may be no cost, a co-pay or full fee based on if you have a deductible or not that needs to be met before your benefits kick in.

  • Out of network insurance: clients with out of network behavioral health benefits are often reimbursed 80% of the associated cost of counseling when they submit a receipt or "superbill" depicting their attendance and diagnosis.

  • Initial intake appointment: $200 for 60-70 minute session.

  • Individual, couples, or family session: $175 for 50-55 minute session.

  • Phone, Telehealth, or email session: $175 for 50 minute session. Email exchanges are fair estimates of words contemplated, written and read.

  • Paperwork or collateral work: all non-direct service work will be billed at $25 per 10 minutes with services clearly communicated.

Do you accept insurance?

I am in In-Network provider for Anthem BC/BS only. I am an out-of-network provider for many insurance companies. This means that I do not bill them directly. You pay us up front and we provide you with a superbill for reimbursement. Call your insurance company directly to determine if and what behavioral health benefits you may have for therapy.

Reasons to pay privately or “out of pocket”

In order to bill under insurance, you must have a diagnosis for the clinician to get reimbursed. This poses a dilemma for those wishing for the highest level of privacy. Also, many insurance companies do not cover couples or family counseling and limit the number of sessions they may cover. There are times where insurance premiums may be increased due to a documented diagnosis or custodial status of children potentially compromised.

What is your cancellation policy?

Sessions which are missed or cancelled with less than 24 hours notice, unless due to death, accident or inclement weather will be charged $50 for the first occurence and $100 thereafter.
